SACRED VALLEY NATURE PROGRAM Number of participants: 4 to 8 Transportation: By bus and on foot Activity: Trekking Duration: Five days and four nights. Itinerary: Day 1: Yanahuara - Mantanay Life Zones Exploration Program At
7:00am, we’ll pick you up at your hotel and go by bus to Yanahuara. From there,
we’ll begin our uphill trek, surrounded by beautiful landscapes, on a path that
crosses streams and woods. Along an easy-going walk, our nature interpreter will
show us the vegetation and describe the different ecological systems. Around
noon, we’ll have lunch, and after a rest, we’ll continue toward Mantanay,
arriving between 4:00 and 5:00pm. We’ll set up camp, have dinner and spend the
night.Day 2: Mantanay – Pacchac Marsh and Wetlands Exploration Program We’ll
have an early breakfast and begin hiking at 8:00am. Today will be entirely
dedicated to the exploration of wetlands and related ecosystems, as well as
local Andean fauna and flora encountered along the way. As we near the afternoon
hours, we’ll have a light lunch followed by a two-hour trek and our arrival in
Pacchac at 5:00pm; Pacchac is a beautiful valley carved by the movement of
glaciers now vanished. Here, we’ll have dinner and spend the night. Day 3: Pacchac - Chicón Glacial Zones Exploration Program We’ll have an early breakfast and begin our trek at 8:00am. Today, we’ll be busy exploring how the glacier system works in the high altitudes of the Sacred Valley, as the glacial water systems irrigate several sub-basins and the alluvial lands at the bottom of the valley. We’ll arrive around 5:00pm at our campsite near Chicón, where we’ll have dinner and spend the night. Day 4: Chicón – Quellococha Stream
System and Forests Exploration ProgramAfter breakfast at 7:00am we’ll continue our trek at 8:00am. Today, we’ll highlight the fact that the Inca Sacred Valley contains as many as seven ecological systems, and that each one of these ecosystems is distinct—as is that of the river-valley forests. We’ll share a country-style lunch typical of the Andes, as well as an afternoon of free time. Continuing our hike in the afternoon hours, we’ll arrive at our campsite in Quellococha at 5:00pm. Day 5: Quellococha – Wayoqari – Cusco Productive Ecosystems Exploration Program At 7:00 am, breakfast will be served, and at 8:00 we’ll begin our trek.
